Warrants
The Labette County Sheriff's Office is responsible for receiving, processing, and serving warrants issued by district and municipal (Altamont, Chetopa, Edna, Mound Valley, and Oswego) courts in this county. A warrant is a court order authorizing law enforcement to arrest an individual or take other legal action. Common types include arrest warrants, issued when probable cause exists that a crime was committed, and bench warrants, typically issued when a person fails to appear in court or violates a court order. Under Kansas law, Deputies may arrest a person when a valid warrant has been issued by a court.
Warrants may be served anywhere and anytime within the State of Kansas, and Deputies are not required to physically possess the warrant at the time of arrest. The Labette County Sheriff's Office also coordinate extradition, transport, and warrant confirmations with other agencies and we maintain a public warrant information on this website.
Individuals with active warrants are encouraged to contact the their attorney, appropriate court or their local law enforcement agency to resolve the matter safely and legally.
