The Patrol Division of the Labette County Sheriff's Office is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment for citizens and visitors throughout all areas of Labette County, which spans 653 square miles.
The division consists of 1 Sergeant, 1 Corporal, 10 full-time Deputies, and 2 part-time Deputies.
Serving as the primary law enforcement agency for response across the county, the Patrol Division also provides critical backing and support to the municipal police departments in cities that maintain their own primary law enforcement agencies. This unit serves as the backbone of the Sheriff's Office, with these dedicated professionals acting as first responders to both emergency and non-emergency calls for service. They provide immediate aid, stabilize volatile situations such as domestic disturbances, conduct searches of buildings for dangerous suspects, and routinely place themselves in harm's way to protect the community.
The Patrol Division emphasizes proactive preventative patrol and high visibility to deter crime. During the summer months, they also conduct patrols at Big Hill Lake to ensure the safety of residents and recreational visitors. The division utilizes specialized resources including K9 patrols and drone operations to enhance their effectiveness in law enforcement and search activities. Through their commitment and presence, the Patrol Division fosters trust and security across Labette County's small towns and rural areas, significantly enhancing the overall quality of life for local residents.
