U.A.S / Drone

The Labette County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division incorporates Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as police drones, to enhance situational awareness, officer safety, and operational efficiency across the county's 653 square miles. Drones provide critical aerial support for a wide range of law enforcement activities, including search and rescue operations, crime scene documentation and photography, real-time surveillance during tactical incidents, missing persons searches, Big Hill Lake patrols, and disaster response. Equipped with high-resolution cameras, and other specialized sensors, these systems allow deputies to quickly assess dangerous or hard-to-reach areas without placing personnel at unnecessary risk.

All UAS operators in the Labette County Sheriff's Office must meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements, typically holding a Remote Pilot Certificate under 14 CFR Part 107.

This capability significantly strengthens the Patrol Division's ability to serve rural areas and support municipal agencies throughout Labette County.
