Transport / Extradition

The Labette County Jail has two dedicated transport deputies responsible for the safe and secure movement of inmates. This unit handles all inmate transportation needs, including providing secure transport to and from court appearances, medical facilities, and other required destinations. In addition to routine transports, the division manages the extradition of inmates from other jurisdictions back to Labette County in accordance with all applicable laws and agreements. The deputies also coordinate and conduct secure transportation for inmates attending medical appointments, evaluations, and treatments.

Beyond their primary transportation duties, the Transport Unit provides essential supplemental coverage to the Labette County Jail and Court Security operations. This additional support helps maintain security and staffing levels during peak periods, emergencies, or when regular personnel are unavailable.

With a compact team of just two deputies, the Transport Unit plays a vital role in the overall operations of the Labette County Sheriff's Office by ensuring the timely and secure movement of inmates while remaining flexible enough to support other critical functions within the agency. Their work is essential to the continuous and efficient operation of the county's criminal justice and corrections systems.
