Hiring Kitchen Cook

The Labette County Sheriff's Office is seeking full-time Lead Kitchen Cook for the Labette County Jail. Kitchen staff is required to work Monday through Friday. An occasional weekend or holiday, as required to meet the needs of the jail.  

Duties Summary: The Lead Kitchen Cook is responsible for all aspects of food service within the Labette County Jail.  This includes inventory management, ordering, and preparation of the meals for those in custody of the Sheriff's Office. Additional duties include cleanliness of the kitchen, preparation and storage areas, and making recommendations regarding overall function of the food service operations. 

Salary/Benefits: Wages start at $16.27 and increase to $16.89 after the first year. Weekend and evening shifts also receive an additional $1.00 shift differential. Benefits include health care, life insurance, KPERS retirement, vacation, and sick time. Additional benefits include tuition fee waivers for educational courses taken through Labette Community College, while employed with the county.

Uniforms/Training: Clothing/Uniforms are provided by the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office provides in-house training, and will pay for additional training opportunities, as needed.

General requirements: 

· Must be a U.S. Citizen; 

· Must be at least 18 years of age; 

· Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; 

· Must have high school diploma or equivalent;

· General Computer knowledge; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data entry, proofreading, editing, and attention to detail. 

· Must have an acceptable background; No felony or domestic violence convictions
