At approximately 0455 Monday morning 08/15/2022, an individual set off an improvised explosive device in the dumpster at the Labette County Judicial Center in Parsons. At 0800 Monday morning officers with Labette County Sheriff's Office watched surveillance video and observed a white male placing the device in the dumpster. Later Monday morning the individual was identified as JAMES D SUTTON and was taken into custody. This incident is still under investigation by the ATF, FBI, KBI, Parsons Police Department and Labette County Sheriff's Office. More details will be released at a later time. James D Sutton is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
