Drugs, cash & handgun seized

On December 2nd at about 4:20 p.m. while on routine patrol a Labette Co. Deputy conducted a traffic stop at 24000 east of Parsons, speeding 75 mph. During the traffic stop the deputy detected a strong odor associated with burnt marijuana emitting from the car. Upon obtaining identification from the driver, the driver was identified as Shontes Wright, and the passenger as Diego Cornelio.

During the search of the car, items identified as marijuana, methamphetamine, Xanax, 9mm pistol & $6720 cash were collected. During the search of Cornelio, a disassembled 9mm pistol was found along with glass smoking pipe with residue, and $6720. Cash wrapped with rubber bands. Cornelio was taken into custody and is charged with, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of controlled substance. Cornelio is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
